Visit this site www.workforceinitiative.co.uk on Tuesday 5 May for detailed information on the Training for Trainers 1 day courses for trainers & managers in adult care. See below for further information.
In December 2008 it was agreed between the Scottish Government and Scottish Care in partnership with Scottish Care at Home that the Private Care Sector Workforce Initiative would design and develop a set of learning materials to underpin the Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act 2007. These materials were to incorporate applicability to the broader private and voluntary sector in Scotland; to add value to the current work of disseminating training and awareness raising; to produce learning resources which are not duplicated elsewhere; and to create a system ready for roll-out to trainers from April 2009.
These objectives have been achieved and the Scottish Government has provided further funding to enable the Workforce Initiative to disseminate training and awareness raising using the newly developed materials.
The work will entail:
• delivering a 1 day Training for Trainers to 500 trainers/managers - suitable for them to cascade to people who use services & carers; frontline staff; managers; owners and governors
These Training for Trainers sessions will run in June, August and September throughout Scotland. The dates will be announced on 5 May and advertised widely
• disseminating the Training for Trainers packs, ‘Tell Someone', to 3,000 registered adult care services in Scotland. ‘Tell Someone' contains all the relevant information for delivery including guidance on the Act; ‘training for trainers' materials and exercises; video clips of scenarios for discussion; a leaflet for people who use services and their carers; and care workers. The material is contained in cd-rom and dvd format and will be made available online. A date for distribution is yet to be decided.
