Care Commission Inspection Notice Oct 09

‘Care Commission notice Oct 09

Important changes to inspection process
So that we can be even more proportionate and targeted in our inspections, from 1 October 2009, until 31 March 2010, we are reducing the number of
Quality Themes that we will inspect. This is so that we can spend less time with services achieving higher grades but spend more time helping those
achieving poorer grades, to improve.

We hope that these changes will be helpful to you.

When care services have a medium or low Regulatory Support Assessment (RSA) and grades of 4, 5 and 6 for all Quality Themes at the last inspection,
only two Quality Themes; Care and Support and Staffing, will be inspected at the next inspection.

When a service has been graded 1,2, or 3 for the Quality Themes Management and Leadership or Environment, or has a requirement relating to one or both of these Themes,
then these Themes will be inspected in addition to Care and Support and Staffing.

Where there has been no previous graded inspection, all Quality Themes will be inspected. And, of course, we reserve the right to look at all Quality Themes
in any service if there are any concerns that need to be followed up.

Before your next statutory inspection, you will be asked to complete the full self evaluation document as usual. This will point to progress you are making and it will help inform what we need to look at during the subsequent inspection.
